Obituary of Lance R. Spinks
Please share a memory of Lance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Corinth, NY
Lance Robert Spinks
Lance Robert Spinks, 68, of Corinth, NY, passed away on November 3rd, 2024.
Lance was born June 8th, 1956 in Albany, NY, and was the son of Charles and Audrey (Gietl) Spinks.
Lance graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1974 and also attended Adirondack Community College.
Lance married Debra Hollander on October 2nd, 1993 in Saratoga Springs, NY. They were married for 22 years and shared their beloved son, and greatest accomplishment, Brandon. For many years, they enjoyed entertaining dear friends and family together in their home and cherishing the company of their rescued pets.
Lance worked as a store manager for Firestone and was honored for his 35 years of service. Of note, he also spent earlier years working for Penske and Montgomery Ward in NYC.
Lance held several different positions with Kayaderosseras Fish and Game club and most recently was on the board of trustees. He valued service and frequently donated his time to the people and things he loved.
Lance treasured spending time with his family and friends, especially his son Brandon, as his greatest joy in life was being a Dad. Lance could often be found surrounded by great laughter and company at his beloved house, aka camp, on Sacandaga Lake. He spent many summers enjoying the Adirondacks and watching his family grow. He took pride in the role that he had as the "favorite uncle" and most especially, amazing father he was to both Brandon and Kalynne, who met in high school. He was so thrilled to stand by his son on their wedding day. He was an avid outdoorsman and was an excellent trapshooter having won many awards over the years. Every fall weekend was spent with his buddies in the woods deer hunting, and most will never forget his classic "snipper" to end the best days. He also loved traveling with his family and had planned a well-deserved cruise to the Bahamas this December. Lance will always be remembered as an honest, compassionate, and dependable man with a heart of gold. His memory is surrounded by endless love and gratitude for the impact that he had in this life.
Remaining to cherish Lance's memory are his son Brandon Spinks and daughter-in-law Kalynne Spinks of Malta, NY; his brothers, Brian Spinks (wife Anne) of Ballston Spa, NY and Bruce Spinks (wife Tracy) of Hastings, Minnesota. Nieces and nephews Stephanie (partner Chris), Brad (wife Carlee), Levi, Zachary, David, and Shane. Lance is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, in-laws Peter and Jennifer Opela, and countless other close friends and family including devoted friends Richard and Michele Ruzzo.
Preceding Lance in death are his parents Charles and Audrey Spinks; and beloved Great Aunt Katherine Guildea.
Visitation will be held November 10th, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Mevec Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held November 11th, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Mevec Funeral Home. Following the memorial service will be a private burial for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lance's memory may be directed to Saratoga County Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice in his name.
