Dear Family of John,
Don and I were happy to be friends with John when he was in Williamsburg. We enjoyed many dinners and theater with him and he loved to go to the Williamsburg Inn for dinner (as did we).
John is in our prayers and know that he lived a life that gave to others and now he is home with his parents and brothers.
We are blessed to having known him.

Father French,
You are and were an Image of Jesus. You were so nice to my children and such a wonderful priest.
Jesus I Trust in You. I know you are with Him face to face.

My husband and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Father French.
He was pastor at my mothers church, Our Lady of the Annunciation in Queensbury and officiated at our marriage at the church in 1989. He was also my grade school principal at St. Mary's, which he joked about not seeing me in the principal's office. He had a quiet sense of humor we both admired very much!
He was one of our favorite people and each time we would visit my parents he would take the time to chat with my husband about his artwork. My husband liked him a great deal.
We send our prayers and comforting thoughts to his family and may he Rest In Peace.

We want to add our deepest condolences to the many that will come to you. Father French was very, very precious to us, individually and as a couple. He helped us to be wed and was our advisor and confessor and made a great effort to come back to town on our wedding day, June 26, 2009. We saw him often before he became ill. The conversations were always lively. We will miss his presence, his great compassion and understanding. He was one of kind. We loved him dearly.
With our thoughts and prayers, we send our heartfelt sympathies. Jack and Linda Garrow

I was blessed to be able to Assist Fr. John at Mass for a number of years at St. Bede in Williamsburg, VA. He also became a good friend of mine. He was the "real deal" as a priest, a friend, and as someone to simply talk with. I will miss him! May he rest in peace!

Father French was loved by many here at Saint Bede in Williamsburg, Virginia. Now he beholds the vision he has longed for all his priesthood.
With sincere gratitude....
