Mr Egger was my 11th and 12th grade English teacher at Greece Athena from 1969-1971. He had a profound impact on my life and for that I thank him very much. We are celebrating our 40th High School Reunion next year. I will thinf of him that evening and toast him in my heart. Karin Ras Price

I was shocked and saddened to read of Gerry's death. So many memories and so many good times when we were all together at Greece Central. My prayers are with Sheryl and the family at this time. Gerry was not only a superb teacher but a wonderful friend as well.

I have many fond memories of the wonderful times spent in Mr. Egger's classroom over multiple years -- none of which I appreciated at the time. He left me with so many gifts that I carry with me to this day: the ubiquitous Words of The Day (tm), improved SAT scores, "Tell me about the rabbits, George" and a love for reading. I am shocked and saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. Even though it has been many years since we taught together at Arcadia, I still remember his wry humor, aversion to chalk dust, and, of course, hot dog gravy.

I remember how much fun we had teaching Playwriting and Production in the same classroom. But Jerry was also a talented cartoonist. His cartoon strip of the Masked Avenger beating me up over the way I treated my girlfriend LIz (now my wife of 53 years) is one of the most "thoughtful" presents I ever received.
