Obituary of Kathleen L. Houghton

South Glens Falls, NY Kathleen Phelps Winslow Houghton Kathleen L. Houghton, 99, of South Glens Falls went into the arms of her lord Wednesday July 14, 2010. She was born in Queensbury, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Estella Ramsey Phelps. Kathleen graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1929. She was a 4-H Leader for Saratoga County Co-operative Extension from 1945 to 1950. She was a seamstress at Van Raalte Mill in Saratoga Springs. Kathleen worked at the New York State Veterans Camp in Wilton. She retired from Mt. McGregor Developmental Center, Wilton, NY in 1973. She enjoyed her family, traveling, gardening and crocheting. She was predeceased by her husbands Richard Winslow and Wayne Houghton, sisters Gladys Pratt, Helen Dyer, Frances Vandecar and Lucy Miller, daughters, Dorothy Smaldone, Linnie Stokes and Margaret Winslow, son, Frank E. Winslow, granddaughter Margaret Burns and grandsons Danny Stokes and Franklin E. Winslow Jr. Survivors include her daughters: Florence Ireland and Joyce Wilm both of South Glens Falls, Rita Merriam and Cheri (Robert) Failing of Boonville, NY and sons: Richard A. (Natalie) Winslow of Wilton; Richard (Jeanne) Houghton of California and Wayne (Jean) Houghton of Florida, her brother: Herbert C. (Betty) Phelps of South Carolina; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Wilton Funeral Home, 395 Ballard Road, Wilton, NY. Services will be on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 10:00 am at Wilton Funeral Home. Committal service will follow at Gurn Springs Cemetery, Wilton.
