Charles died on April 8, 2010 at Saratoga Hospital
He was born in Ballston Spa. He was the son of the late Charles A. and Louise Baumgartner Reckner.
Charles served in the U.S. Army in the Southwest Pacific Theater in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands from 1943 to 1946
Charles was in the Civilian Conservation Corp.
He retired from Town of Milton Highway Department in 1985.
Charles was a member of American Legion Post#234, Ballston Spa, V.F.W. Post #420, Saratoga Springs and Disabled American Veterans, Ballston Spa Elks Lodge #2619, Ballston Spa, Ballston Area Senior Citizens and the Saratoga Springs Senior Citizens
Charles was a Deacon for Hope Church, Ballston Spa
He was predeceased by his first wife Lucy Reckner, his sisters Louise Stanislowsky, Alma Reckner and Stepson Glenn Durham
Survivors include his wife Leona Reckner, his sister: Nancy Crawford of Ballston Spa, his brother: Paul (Joan) Reckner; Brother-in-law Thomas (Nellie) DeMars.
His stepchildren, Georgianna (William) Crannell; Mary Ellen (Pete) Campbell and Rogann (Rodney) Beagle, his step grandchildren Danielle (John) Rupp, Timothy (Jennifer) Moore
Angela (Jim) Dana and Gary Durham his nieces Karen (David) Fabian and Connie Crawford
Graveside services with military honors will be on April 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Ballston Spa Cemetery, Ballston Spa.
