Q: How would you describe Paul to someone who had never met them?
A: Image if you had a father that was present in your life and cared deeply. For many people, this isn’t the case……For me….it couldn’t have been more true. I loved every minute and sometimes every second of my life with him. We shared moments that happened so quickly we could have died together and so epic that we stood on the top of a mountain in twenty degrees below zero temperatures, 40mph winds and white out blizzard snow storm conditions. (We barely got off that mountain) We shared hundreds of hikes, days of fishing, weeks of camping, months of building houses….. years of companionship and decades of learning to live our best life’s. Dad was a man that for many of my friends and family acted as second father and brother. He was caring and cared about everyone. He taught me to look at others and seek to understand where they are from and what their life may be like.
There are many people who impose their views in your life and you have the luxury of being able to stay positive. This positive spin is within your power and can have a tremendous impact in the lives of others. My dad had the ability to take difficult situations and navigate them with grace. Whether it was brain cancer or family bullshit he waited and acted with a calm demeanor that left things able to move forward.
From this day forward dads never been closer to me. I’m very aware your body and mind are no longer with me…… it’s hurts me deeply….. but your spirit is with me always………. If this is where we share our feelings with friends and family, I want to make it known that I greatly miss my father and friend. I’ve never felt a lose so large and a hurt so deep. But I know that I was lucky to have every second of dad in my life. If someone can cheat death and sneak another 23 years past the grim reaper and I get to call that guy my dad I know how lucky he was and how lucky I was that he did

Paul was my favorite brother in law. He had more energy than anyone I knew. I remember when he tried to teach Meg and I how to rock climb with ropes and we were terrible at it, collapsing in peels of laughter at the base of the rock. His patience was amazing.
I never saw Paul get angry. His attitude was just keep trying and he was always positive with everything he did. Paul was a good man and was always good to me. My sister-in-law was lucky to have him for so many years. He was the bright spot in their marriage and the best part of the Kelly Clan.
