Ballston Spa, NY Charles Bertrand, 91, peacefully passed away with his family around him on October 7, 2021. He was born to his parents Henry and Emma Bertrand, at their home on February 21, 1930, in Cohoes, New York. He attended Cohoes High School. From there, he quickly and proudly served his country by joining the U.S. Army doing tours of duty with the Armored Tank Division and later in the Army Reserves. After fulfilling his military commitment, he went to work for his beloved Mohawk Paper Mills for 46 years, where he rose through the ranks to a supervisory position. Chuck played Semi-pro football as a young man. He enjoyed Bowling and listening to Classic Country music with his wife Greta He has certainly experienced his health challenges over recent years. However, he was blessed with a long and happy life and has maintained a lively curiosity in ideas, people, finance, politics, Duke Men's Basketball, NY Mets, and thoroughbred horse racing. He was predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Paul, Shirley, Sondra, his son Peter who died August 7, 2005. Chuck is survived by his wife Greta (Belanger) Bertrand married 66 years on May 8, 1955. She lovingly provided him warm and compassionate care over the last few years, his children Wayne (Sandra), Mark (Kelly), Steve (Kate), devoted daughters-in-law Sylvia and Lori, his grandchildren Alyssa, Zachary, Sara, Dana, Azurah, Logan, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews Graveside services with military honors will be on Wednesday October 13, 2021 at 12:00 PM in Maplewood Cemetery, Corner Weible Avenue & Loudon Road, Saratoga Springs. His family is grateful for his quality health care from Saratoga Hospital and Community Hospice of Saratoga Family suggests memorial contributions in memory of Chuck to Old Friends Thoroughbreds at Cabin Creek 483 Sand Hill Road Greenfield Center N.Y. 12833.
