Obituary of Raymond Ruiz, Sr.

Saratoga Springs, NY Raymond Ruiz Sr., 84 of Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully on September 17, 2009 at Saratoga Hospital. He was born in Anasco, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Daniel and Antonia Gutierrez Ruiz. After World War II, he relocated to New York City, where he met his wife Carmen Alicea on Feb 29, 1950. They married at the Spanish Lutheran Church in the Bronx Feb 10, 1951 The couple had six children, 3 boys and 3 girls Raymond Ruiz, Jr. of Saratoga Springs Ruth Ruiz-Torres of FL, Robert Ruiz of Saratoga Springs, Rudy Ruiz who died June 1, 2009 Rosalind Ruiz-Nicolaides of CA and Rayniel Ruiz of Saratoga Springs Raymond worked in the hotel and restaurant business for 42 years. He mastered the culinary arts in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and the Chinese influences. During the mid 50's he traveled to the Great Lakes, Lake George region working with major restaurants during the tourist season We remember as children, many evenings at the dinner table, our father would recount many old stories and folk songs from Spain and France. He was a huge fan of Placido Domingo as well as Lola Flores. His memories of the Great Lake, Lake George, Sagamore and Saratoga Springs are his most unforgettable. With the Great Spirit, Raymond leaves, supported by his wife Carmen Alicea Ruiz and attended too by his loving family at his bed side, He was well loved by all he met. He is predeceased by his siblings.
