Obituary of Kathleen P. Doescher

Kathleen (Kate) P. Doescher Kathleen P. Dillon Doescher formerly of Wilton NY, passed away August 22, 2016 at the Pines Rehabilitation Facility in Glens Falls NY after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Dillon and Mary Stafford Dillon. She was born in Schenectady NY on October 20, 1930. She was a graduate of Saint Columbus Catholic High School. After graduating from high school she found employment with General Electric Co. at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) where she met the love of her life Bernard Doescher with whom she enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage. Early in her marriage Kathleen began her favorite career of raising 5 children which spanned 35 years. Kathleen also worked at several jobs outside the home the most notable being Client Services at the Wilton Developmental Center where she retired from the state of NY in 1994.She also worked for the Board of Elections for many years. Kathleen was a communicant of St. Therese Chapel; Gansevoort NY, a former Girl Scout Troup leader and was an active member of the Wilton Historical Society serving as a past President. Kathleen was known for her great sense of humor as well as her kind nature. Her family and faith were the most important things in her life. She especially enjoyed watching her 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren grow up. She was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was predeceased by her daughter, Louise Lauro( October 19, 2008) and her husband Bernard "Bunny" Doescher( April 10, 2009).Survivors include her children Ann (Patrick) Gardner of Volney, NY, Matthew (Wendy) Doescher of Wilton NY, Bernard (Sandy) Doescher of Wilton NY and Paul (Karen) Doescher of Clifton Park NY, her sister: Mary Fyvie of Schenectady NY , her brother: John Dillon of North Caldwell NJ, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be, held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 9:00 am at Wilton Funeral Home, 395 Ballard Road, Wilton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Therese Chapel, Junction of Route 32 and Wilton Gansevoort Road, Gansevoort. Committal service will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 25 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Wilton Funeral Home, 395 Ballard Road, Wilton, NY.
