Alice Mae Barnes was born in Galway on July 8, 1915 passed peacefully at the age of 100 with her family at her side on October 11, 2015 at Saratoga Center for Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.
She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lilly Reynolds Palmateer and the widow of Reginald Barnes who died in 1988.
She lived most of her life in Charlton.
Besides helping on the farm, she had a talent for sewing and made everything from square dancing dresses to stuffed animals. She also spent many years making cakes for every occasion for family and friends. A devout Christian, Alice attended the Alliance Church in Ballston spa for many years, where she also taught Sunday school.
She was predeceased by her brothers Edgar, George, Kenneth, Paul, Clifford Palmateer, her sisters Irene Armer, Myrtle Dropper, Lula Bush, Margaret Richardson, Lillie Dropper, Clarice Reynolds and baby Doris Palmateer.
Alice is survived by her daughter: Patricia (Donald) Kingsley her grandchildren, Bonnie (Ernest) Selke, Ronald Kingsley (Jennifer), great-grandchildren, Helena Kingsley and Macy Kingsley all of Charlton. "She was the best grandmother anyone could ever have." Alice is also survived by her brother Floyd Palmateer as well as many nieces and nephews.
