Obituary of Stephen J. Simek

STEPHEN J. SIMEK, SR. Ballston Spa, NY Stephen J. Simek, Sr. 94 Stephen died at Saratoga Hospital on Monday, January 26, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 10, 1914. He was the son of the late Edward and Antonia Polacek Simek. Stephen worked as a supervisor for the former Robert Reis Company, Waterford, NY. He also served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 during World War II. Stephen was a member of V.F.W. Post #358, Ballston Spa and the Kiwanis Club, Saratoga Springs. He was predeceased by his brother Tony Simek, his sister Velma Simek and his wife Jane L. Simek who died on September 16, 1992. Survivors included his sons: Stephen J. Simek, Jr.(Julie) of Phoenix, AZ and Bruce Simek(Beverly) of Ballston Spa; his sisters: Marge Henry of Niskayuna, Bert Cincotta of Schenectady, Anne Kollar of Johnstown, Mary Fiorito of Johnstown and his brothers: John Simek of Baldwinsville, NY, Edward Simek of Gloversville. His grandchildren, Michelle Johnson; Michael Simek; Mark Simek; Derek Simek; Krista Arpey; Robert Holland; Mikayla Simek; great grandchildren, Elijah Arpey; Cheyenne Arpey; Emily Johnson, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:00 am at Mevec Funeral Home Inc., 224 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Church, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Committal service with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Saratoga Springs Calling hours will be Friday, January 30 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Mevec Funeral Home Inc., 224 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
