Obituary of Merritt Richard Westfall

Ballston Spa, NY Merritt Richard Westfall 80 Merritt died at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, February 8, 2014. He was born on February 18, 1933 in Albany, NY. He was the son of the late Merritt O. and Loretta Evelyn Brown Westfall. Merritt was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School Class of 1950 He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 honorably discharged as Sergeant. Merritt worked for A&P Grocery chain, managing several stores in the area until all were closed. He worked as Senior Operator at Saratoga County Waste Water Treatment Plant, Mechanicville retiring after 17 years of service. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald B. Westfall Survivors include his wife Beverly J. Westfall who he married on December 13, 1953, his son: Merritt "Scotty" Westfall and daughter in law Sue his grandson, Merritt Joshua Westfall, his five nieces and one nephew and their spouses and families as well as one uncle and several cousins. Services will be on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Mevec Funeral Home Inc., 224 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Committal service with military honors will be Saturday May 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Rock City Falls Cemetery.
