Obituary of Robert A. Lawrence

Robert Arthur Lawrence, 89 a native of Ballston Spa passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 of a tragic accident. He was the son of the late Ambrose and Zillah Butterfield Lawrence.
Bob served proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII, being stationed on the USS Mustin as well as the USS Cavallaro.
He retired from General Electric after 40 years. He was a licensed pilot and flying Piper Cubs was his favorite hobby.
He was Chaplain for the American Legion Post #234, charter member of the Community Emergency Corps, volunteer for the Rock City Falls Fire Dept,
Bob also was a member of the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard and volunteered at Flag Day Parades handing out American Flags.
He lived life to the fullest and worked hard to always take care of those he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his son David Arthur Lawrence and his grandson Joshua David Lawrence
Bob is survived by the love of his life of 61 years Joan Lawrence, His daughters Jeanette (Michael) Chapman of California, Kathleen Elizabeth Maynor, Patti Ann (James) Nygaard both of Georgia, Sallie Kidd of Ballston Spa, his son Robert Arthur (Heather) Lawrence Jr. of Saratoga Springs. He adored and was loved by his 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren
Memorial service will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 12:00 pm at American Legion Post #234, 23 Pleasant Street, Ballston Spa.
Though our lives are changed forever as we say goodbye, our hearts are filled with cherished memories
