Obituary of Leon M. Mastromarchi

Dateline: Middle Grove, NY
Leon Mastromarchi, 73, of Middle Grove NY passed away peacefully at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa on September 5th. Leon was born in Albany NY to Leon and Mary Rose Mastromarchi. He is survived by his brothers John, Thomas and James Mastromarchi. He went to Cathedral Academy and Cardinal McCloskey high schools where he enjoyed musical theater and met his future wife, Janice Ecker. After graduation he attended the University of Albany. After marrying in Albany in 1962, he served in the National Guard and worked at the Normanskill/Crowley Dairy. Leon and Janice had five children, Joseph, Anne, Anthony, Patrick, and the late Michael Mastromarchi. He had three grandchildren, Zachary Frey and Julia and Aidan Mastromarchi. Leon and Janice lived in Albany, and later in Guilderland, where he worked for Time Warner Cable. He enjoyed family camping trips with hiking and swimming each summer. Later, Leon and Janice ran a Bed and Breakfast at their home in Galway, and he was active in the Lions Club. In 2002, Leon and his family moved to Lake Desolation in Middle Grove. Leon worked at Schenectady ARC and Saratoga ARC at this time. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and brother and will be missed by all.
Calling hours will be Friday September 13th from 9 - 10:45 AM at Mevec Funeral Home, 224 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 AM at St. Mary's Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands at 1 PM. There will be a gathering of family and friends in the Fellowship Hall at First Reformed Church, 413 Main Avenue/ Route 66, Wynantskill, NY 12198
