COTTONWOOD, Ariz.
Joseph N Filoseta, 96, of Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 7, 2013, after
a brief illness. The family will welcome visitors on Monday, July 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mevec Funeral Home in Ballston
Spa, N.Y. followed by a 9:15 a.m. service at Mevec's on Tuesday, July 16. Joseph will be interred with full military honors at
the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery in Saratoga, N.Y. His beloved Wife Helene of 66 years was interred at the Veterans Cemetery on July 12, 2007. 25, 1916, in New York City to Emil and Josephine (Stile) Filoseta. He was one of six children and was predeceased by his siblings, Mario,
Michael, Mary, Elena and Rae. Joseph met Helene Pollack at a roller skating rink in Brooklyn, N.Y. and the two were married on Feb. 21, 1941. Together they had four surviving children: Linda Duerr Gardner of Clarkdale, Ariz., Emil Filoseta of Cottonwood, Ariz., Michele Filoseta Viscecchia of Freeport, N.Y. and Joseph G. Filoseta of Seattle, Wash. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. Joseph worked in the hospitality business for his entire career, learning the business first as a bell hop and retiring in 1984 as the General Manager of a group of five hotels. Joseph and Helene moved to Saratoga Springs in 2001 to be closer to the 13 grandchildren,
eight great grandchildrenand three greatgreat- grandchildren that they enjoyed. Shortly after Helene died in July of 2007, he moved to a small private golf course community in Cottonwood, Ariz., to enjoy the final chapter of his long and wonderful life playing golf and making new friends. Joseph was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for 44 years. His nearby local Lodge: Jerome, Ariz. is planning a life celebration event and dinner Joseph was loved by the people whose lives he touched. He was a quiet gentle man
with an unwavering love of life. He will be missed by family and friends alike.
