Obituary of Mary A. Filion

Ballston Spa, NY Mary A. Filion 84 Mary died at home on Friday, June 8, 2012. She was born in Manhattan, NY. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Leona Kunicz Cwiakala. Mary graduated as salutatorian of Galway High School. She began her working career at Standard and Poors in Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. She later moved upstate to work at General Electric in Schenectady. Mary ran her own bookkeeping business in her home office until becoming a real estate agent with Prestige Realty. She established and brokered her own real estate company, Mary Filion Realty, Inc for thirty-five years. Mary was dedicated to helping her clients to find the perfect home. Mary was a member of the National Association of Realtors, National Association of Real Estate Appraisers, National Association of Income Tax Practitioners, New York State Association of Realtors. She was active in the Saratoga County Board of Realtors. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Ballston Spa. Mary enjoyed her travels with her family and friends through out her life, both across the United States and in Europe. She especially enjoyed her family condo in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband Roger E. Filion who died on October 8, 2008 and her sister, Helen Rosecrans and brother in law, William. Survivors include her daughters: Denise Filion Kalinkewicz of Ballston Spa, Debra Filion O'Shea and her husband Stephen of Saratoga Springs, her sons David Filion, Esq. and his wife Kimberly of Queensbury, Dr. Dean Filion and his wife Dr. Jacqueline Filion of Caldwell, NJ, her brother: Thomas Cwiakala and his wife, Marge, of Galway, her grandchildren, Alexa Filion, Marielle Filion, Carson Filion. Services will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 10:30 am at Mevec Funeral Home, 224 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St. Mary's Church, 167 Milton Avenue. Committal service will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Galway. Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 12 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Mevec Funeral Home.
