WHITEHALL — Frederick J. Baker, 64, a resident of Whitehall, passed away from his battle with cancer Monday, April 20, 2015. Born Sept. 12, 1950, in Athol, he was the son of Helen and Jamon Baker. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army; he served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return from serving his country, he worked locally as an automotive mechanic. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Fred was known as a man with either very few words or, at times, too many. Survivors includes his partner, Nancy Thomas; his children, Rebecca Wester, Jason Baker and Amanda Baker; Rebecca's husband, Doug Wester; Jason's wife, Holly Baker; several grandchilden, whom he referred to as "varmints," Justin, Cody, Nick Benjamin, Elijah Wester, Samantha, Justin Germain, Bianca Baker and Blake Decarli; two great-grandchildren, Konner and Piper; and of course "those Benjamins," Kevin and Tammie. In true Fred fashion, you can pay your respects from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the McGregor Pub in Wilton. Please come with your stories and smiles.
